Super Sight Words (printable pdf)

This sight words printable helps kindergarten or preschool aged children learn these 25 common beginning words. Created for preschool through Kindergarten (3 to 5 years old). These can be used by parents, teachers, or anyone wanting to help kids with fun early learning activities.

Why are sight words important?

Sight words are words that are used very frequently and often can not be “sounded out” or drawn easily. Therefore, it is critical that early readers learn to recognize these words “on sight.”

What I have found, as a parent to three boys, is that finding the right kind of book for beginner and reluctant readers is central to motivation. And for my kiddos the best books were silly, funny, and relatable.

The following recommendations are based on what my kids actually read and enjoyed. Not just the ones listed, but the whole series. So whether your child is a beginner, reluctant, or struggling, you’re bound to find something here.

Kindle Fire 7: Kids Edition Tablet (under $100)

If you are looking for a tablet for your kids to use for education or fun, you should seriously consider the Kindle Fire for Kids. For under $100 you can get a rugged device with a 2-year warrantee and 1000s of apps and videos. Although the Kindle does not have as many apps available as Apple iPad or Google Android devices, less does not always mean worse! And Kindle’s App Store has plenty of qulaity apps to choose from.

Babadoodle is an Amazon affiliate. We may receive a small fee if you purchase through one of these links. This supports the site and allows us to keep it free. You support is greatly appreciated!

Why We Like It

In my opinion, there are 4 main benefits for the Kindle Fire (Kids Edition):

  1. Excellent Price: the 7″ currently costs $99 and comes bundled with a warrantee and kids apps. By comparison, the popular iPad mini is just under $400 and the more affordable Galaxy tab starts about $150. Neither are kid-friendly out of the box.
  2. 2-year guarantee: This is huge! I mean, it’s a device for kids and one of the main concerns is breakage. If it breaks, you just need to return it to Amazon for a replacement.
  3. Bundled with kids’ apps, games, & books. The Kindle Fire 7 Kids Edition comes bundled 1-year of Amazon FreeTime, which includes over 20,000 apps, games, books, videos, etc., from PBS Kids, Nickelodeon, Disney and more. Apps and books may be relatively cheap, but they do tend to add up over time. Plus, once the free subscription is over, Amazon FreeTime can be renewed for $2.99. And that’s an excellent deal too.
  4. Highly rated: Currently, the Kindle Fire has an 4.5 average rating on nearly 50,000 reviews…and that’s not easy to do!

Bottomline: We have been an iPhone /iPad family for years, but if I were to buy a new device, the Kindle Fire for Kids would be at the top of my list!

Babadoodle contains some affiliate links, so if a sale is made we may receive a small commission.

Best Gifts for Tweens and Teens who like to Game.

Finding gifts for tweens and teenagers can be hard to do if they like gaming. There are a lot of things that you need to research to find out whether or not they are worth buying. As a teen gamer myself, I’ve already done this research so you don’t have to! This list is great for parents, siblings, or friends who have tweens or teenagers who like gaming. All of these would be great gifts for gamers.

Editor’s Choice

Redragon K552 Mechanical Keyboard

The Red Dragon K552 is one of the best budget mechanical keyboards.

This Keyboard I would highly recommend. Most good quality Mechanical gaming keyboards can be very expensive, whilst the cheaper ones might break more easily or just not work as well. This Redragon K552 Mechanical gaming keyboard is relatively cheap, only $44, yet it has very good quality to it. It has a solid stainless steel frame and Cherry MX Blue Switches. The switches have that satisfying clicky feel, though it is really loud so if you want a quieter keyboard this is not the keyboard for you. Being only 44 dollars it does have some flaws, one being that the the lighting in the background is somewhat limited. Another flaw would be the space bar. This keyboard’s space bar is a little rattly and loose, but that isn’t a huge problem when using the keyboard.

Redragon M601 Gaming Mouse

The Redragon M601 is a great budget mouse.

I would highly recommend this mouse. This mouse is really good quality for only $17. It has RGB and removable weights. I’ve seen some mixed reviews on this mouse, but I own this mouse myself and can say that it’s pretty good. The mouse is a bit light even with all of the weights in, but that should not matter too much. This mouse does have mixed reviews for its texture though. Some people do not like the sand-paper like grip it has, but it is not too uncomfortable and it doesn’t make your hands sore.

Jialong Mousepad

The Jialong mouse pad is great for gaming while keeping your setup nice.

This Jialong mouse pad is great for gaming. It is big enough to fit your whole desk and can fit your keyboard and mouse on with extra space if necessary for maximum comfortability. The bottom of the mouse pad has a non-slip rubber base so it won’t slide around, while the top of the mouse pad is non-friction material so gamers can slide their mouse around with ease while the keyboard won’t slip. It costs around $14, so a good price for a huge mouse pad.

PCs

Skytech Shiva Gaming PC

Skytech Shiva Gaming PC is one of the best pre-built gaming PCs out there

The Skytech Shiva gaming PC is one of the best pre-built gaming PCs out there. It has an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, Nvidia RTX 2060, 16GB DDR4, 500G SSD, and RGB fans. It comes in a white case and the fans RGB really work well with the white case. It operates on windows 10. You can play games such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, and CSGO on 1080p with high to ultra-resolution and getting 60+ fps. With uncapped settings, games can reach upwards of 300 fps. This PC has a price of $1,300, so it is pretty expensive, but being a gaming PC with the graphics card and hard drive it is a fair price and is really amazing.

Centaurus Andromeda A5 Gaming PC

The Centaurus Andromeda A5 gaming PC is another spectacular pre-built gaming PC.

The Centaurus Andromeda A5 gaming PC is amazing. It has an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB 3000MHz Ram, Nvidia GTX 1660 6GB, 1TB SSD, and Windows 10 pro. Not only is this PC great for gaming, but can also be used for video editing, 3D modeling, and computer rendering. It also has two RGB fans on the side and it comes in a black case. It can achieve high fps on max settings without being stuttery. This PC comes at a price of around $1,100, which is a really good price for this computer considering what it features inside.

Keyboards

Redragon K552 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

The Red Dragon K552 is one of the best budget mechanical keyboards.

I would highly recommend this keyboard. Most good quality Mechanical gaming keyboards can be very expensive, whilst the cheaper ones might break more easily or just not work as well. This Redragon K552 Mechanical gaming keyboard is relatively cheap (about $44), yet it has very good quality to it. It has a solid stainless steel frame and Cherry MX Blue Switches. The switches have that satisfying clicky feel, though it is really loud so if you want a quieter keyboard this is not the keyboard for you. Being only $44 it does have some flaws, one being that the the lighting in the background is somewhat limited. Another flaw would be the space bar. This keyboard’s space bar is a little rattly and loose, but that isn’t a huge problem when using the keyboard.

Royal Kludge RK61 60% Mechanical Keyboard

The Royal Kludge RK61 is a great 60% keyboard that comes at a great price.

The RK61 Royal Kludge keyboard is an amazing keyboard, it is wireless, but can also be wired if necessary. Plus, you can connect this keyboard to phones, iPads, computers and more. It has a battery life of up to 10 hours when using the lights, but can last an astonishing 2 days with the lights off. This keyboard also has Cherry MX Blue Switches, making it pretty loud, but still satisfying. It only has several colors for its back light, but you can change the back-lit modes to make it look cooler. This keyboard is a bit more pricey at the price of about $80, but that is still relatively cheap for a wired/wireless 60% mechanical keyboard.

Razer Ornata Chroma Gaming Keyboard

The Razer Ornata is a great keyboard that features some pretty cool things.

The Razer Ornata Chroma keyboard is probably one of the better gaming keyboards out there. This keyboard is a bit pricey ranging from $80-$100 but makes up for it in its quality. The key switches are mecha-membrane switches. These particular switches are membrane keys made to feel like mechanical switches, so they have that nice clicky sound, but a smooth feel to them. The key-caps on this keyboard are shorter than most key-caps, but that shouldn’t make it any more difficult to game or type with, in fact, some people may prefer the shorter keycaps. This keyboard also has Chroma RGB lighting. It has over 16.8 million colors on individually backlit keys. The Razor Ornata also features a wrist rest, so if wrist soreness in gaming or typing is a problem this wrist rest would be very useful. The wrist rest is magnetic so if you do not feel the need to have it on there you can just detach it. As well as that, this wrist rest is supposed to be one of the comfiest wrist rests out there, having a soft leatherette to maximize your comfort, whether it be gaming or typing.

Mice

Redragon M601 Gaming Mouse

The Redragon M601 is a great budget mouse.

I highly recommend this mouse. This mouse is really good quality for only about $17.

Razer Deathadder v2 Gaming Mouse

The Razer Deathadder V2 is one of the fastest on the market.

The Razer Deathadder V2 is an amazing mouse. The Deathadder has 8 programmable buttons and rubberized side grips. It also has Chroma RGB lighting with over 16.8 million colors. This mouse features optical switches for the mouse clicks tested for over 70 million clicks rather than 50 million clicks in mechanical mouse switches. This mouse also has a braided cord so it is stronger and the cord is drag-free so when gaming or just using this mouse there will be less friction than other cords. The feet of this mouse are also different using PFTE so there is less drag when using it. This mouse is right-handed though so if you are left-handed I would not recommend buying this mouse. The Deathadder V2 costs a total of $69.99. The whole thing weighs about 82 grams, so its pretty light, and has a 20k DPI Optical sensor.

Logitech G502 Gaming Mouse

This Logitech G502 mouse has one of the highest dpi’s.

The Logitech G502 is a great mouse. It has removable weights with all the weights weighing in at 18 grams with 5, 3.6-gram weights. The weights are centered so the center of gravity for the mouse doesn’t feel weird. It has one of the highest DPI’s, maxing at 16,000 DPI. The G502 also has 11 programmable buttons and showcases RGB lighting. It has fully customizable RGB lighting so there is a lot you can do with that. The G502 has mechanical switches for its left and right mouse clicks. This mouse costs around $90 so it is pretty expensive for a mouse, but if you want a better gaming experience this mouse is excellent.

Gaming Chairs

GTRACING Gaming Chair

This GTRACING gaming chair is perfect for gaming.

The GTRACING gaming chair is one of the best gaming chairs on the market, with a strong metal frame that keeps comfortability for long hours of gaming. This chair’s armrest and backrest are adjustable with 90-170 degrees reclining and 360 degrees swivel. This chair has smooth PU leather making it comfortable to move around in so it does not make you sore. It has nylon smooth-rolling casters for easy mobility. This chair costs around $150 which is pretty expensive for just a chair, but if you are looking for an amazing gaming experience this is the perfect chair for you.

BestOffice Gaming/Office Chair

This chair can be used in the office and whilst gaming and is super comfortable.

This chair is a great budget gaming chair. It has most of the features of most gaming chairs, like having soft leather and can swivel and recline, but at a much cheaper price. This chair is still pretty expensive at around $90, but that is pretty cheap compared to the $150 counterparts. This chair is also really easy to assemble as it is able to be built in under 15 minutes.

Monitors

Sceptre 24″ Gaming Monitor

This monitor is great for gaming with a budget.

This 24-inch Sceptre monitor is perfect for gaming cheaply. It comes with a wall-mount and a stand depending on how you want to place your monitor. It is 75 Hz and supports Windows 10. The curved screen gives an amazing visual experience. At around $130 it is one of the cheaper gaming monitors, although it is still quite expensive.

Asus 27″ Gaming Monitor

This Asus monitor is great for your gaming expierience

The Asus VG278QR gaming monitor is great. It has 1080p full HD and has 165 Hz. This monitor is 27 inches and has extremely low motion blur. It also has eye care so your eyes won’t get sore from gaming a lot. It comes at the price of about $320, which is pretty expensive for just a monitor, but it has amazing features that make up for the pricing.

Accessories

HyperX Cloud Alpha S Headset

This headset has greatsound for when your gaming.

The HyperX Cloud Alpha S is a great headset. It features a noise cancelling microphone and has soft breathable leatherette for maximum comfort. It has adjustable bass sliders and a very durable aluminium frame. It comes with two types of headphone covers, one is leatherette and the other is a soft kind of fuzzy one. This headset also has a braided cable so it wont break that easy. This headset comes in at around $130 so it is quite expensive for a headset, but its features and the quality of it make up for the price.

Luxcoms RGB Mousepad

This mouse pad is a fun way to brighten up your setup.

This mouse pad is a good way to brighten up your setup. It is a large mouse pad, intended for it to take up the whole desk or a large amount of area. You can fit your keyboard on it and use your mouse with extra space. The material it uses has very low friction so you can use your mouse with ease. This mouse pad also features a RGB light strip along the edges where you can choose from 11 lighting modes which include 7 static light modes and 4 dynamic modes. It has a non slip rubber base to prevent your mouse pad from moving about when gaming. At around $26 this mouse pad is a pretty cheap way to make your setup more fun.

LuckIn Rotatable Wrist-rest Extender

A good accessory to help maximize confortability while gaming.

This cool gaming accessory can help maximize your comfort whilst gaming. Sometimes, while gaming, your arms can get tired and these armrests clip onto your desk so they are the right height as your desk so you can rest your arms on them without being at an uncomfortable height to game. There’s no need to assemble the wrist extender as it comes pre-made. Just clamp the screws onto the table and you’re ready to go! You don’t need to assemble this thing as it comes pre-made. All you need to do is clamp the screws onto the table and it is ready.

Jialong Mouse-pad

This Jialong mouse pad is great for gaming. It is big enough to fit your whole desk and can fit your keyboard and mouse on with extra space if necessary for maximum comfortability. The bottom of the mouse pad has a non-slip rubber base so it won’t slide around, while the top of the mouse pad is non-friction material so gamers can slide their mouse around with ease while the keyboard won’t slip. It costs around $14, so a good price for a huge mouse pad.

Xbox One Controller Skin

This Xbox one controller skin is a fun way to add to an Xbox controller, which normally don’t come in that many variations. Not only does the skin make it look better visibly, but it can also help you when playing as it adds a lot of grip to the controller. This controller skin comes at around $13, so its a good price for a silicone grip with a cool design on it.

Headphone Holder

Sometimes it may be difficult to find a place to keep your headphones. if you leave them on a desk they might get dirty or tangle with other cords and cables that might be on the desk as well. This headphone holder clamps onto the side of the desk and you just put your headphones on it. It also has a wire holder on the side so you can keep your headsets wire untangled. It comes at the price of $15, which is a good price to pay to keep your set-up neat and organized.

Best Coding & Programming Apps for Kids

Coding can be hard to learn and often not very engaging for kids (or adults), but this selection of apps helps kids learn how to code in fun and interactive ways.

We’ve selected highly rated coding apps that cater to a range of ages from pre-readers to teens (and adults), with age-based recommendations that you can use as a rough guide. (Many adults new to programing will enjoy some of the game and puzzle based apps, while young, but motivated coders, may enjoy more complex coding apps.) Also, while many apps are available on both Android and Apple devices, they are usually available as web-based programs too. Finally, cost. We’ve included a couple of free apps, but most coding apps are subscription-based (be aware that most auto-renew!) and may seem expensive when compared to other educational apps.

Have we missed one? Let us know. Enjoy!

About the app

Peep & The Big Wide World Paint Splat

Ready, Set, Splat! In this Paint Splat app, which features the hilariously quirky duck, Quack and his plucky robin friend, Chirp, kids make Quack jump on paint tubes to mix colors on the fence. Watch out for the hose!

Paint Splat offers kids the opportunity to experiment with mixing colors or match a color Chirp holds up a on a card. If the color orange, purple or green (which make up the secondary color group) is successfully created, Chirp offers some of the harder-to-mix tertiary colors. Like many of our games, this one gets harder only if the player is succeeding.

By tapping on the paint tubes, players can make Quack squirt up to two blobs of blue, yellow, and red paint onto a fence. Tapping on the hose washes the paint off, enabling kids to have a fresh start.

Kids can experiment with mixing whatever colors they like or they can try to match the color Chirp holds up.

The PEEP and the Big Wide World Paint Splat app from WGBH was produced by WGBH, the producers of PEEP and the Big Wide World, with additional development work by CloudKid. The animated series PEEP and the Big Wide World gives wings to the innovative idea of teaching science to preschoolers. Wry and distinctive visual humor, charming plotlines, and lovable characters combine with a comprehensive science curriculum to attract and engage kids three to five years old.
