Privacy Policy
Babadoodle is owned by one person, me. I am a privacy nerd and believe in providing the users of this site a clear privacy statement that is easy to read and understand. Importantly, I only collect information necessary to conduct my business and do not willingly sell or share it with any other person or company for their own marketing, advertising, or business purposes.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or anything else, feel free to contact me here. All emails come directly to me :)
Using the site:
- Google Analytics is used to help us better understand how the site is used (eg. how many visitors, how long they stay, most popular pages.)
But, unlike many businesses, we restrict data processing by Google. Instead of asking our visitors to “opt out” of additional data collection, we just do not collect this data. For example, we do not allow data collection for behavioral advertising and 3rd party retargeting (eg. “Hello, we know you looked at that lovely sweater on a different website, do you want it? Well, do you?”) - Woo Commerce is used for our store and uses cookies to help you shop (eg. add to shopping cart), process your order, suggest products, estimate shipping and tax, and other shopping related tasks.
- Google Ads are not currently on the site. If we start including Google Ads, we will adhere to the above policy that resticts data processing by Google.
- We do not sell or share this data with 3rd parties for their own marketing, advertising, or business purposes.
- Amazon, Etsy, and other affiliate links are included on the site. Affiliates use cookies so that they know if a click from our site results in a sale.
- Drop Shipping: we fulfill some of our orders through print on demand companies. These companies only receive the necessary data to fulfill your order.
- InMotion provides hosting, Paypal provides payment processing, and Babadoodle.com is built with WordPress. We only share information with them that allows us to operate our business.
- Social Media (on Babadoodle.com): Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter is integrated so that you can share content to these social media platforms. Apart from a link and relevant content (eg. image), we do not pass other information to these platforms.
- Unlike other businesses, we do not share our email list with any of these platforms
- We do not have a Facebook pixel that allows Facebook to track you on our site
- Social Media (off Babadoodle.com): We have Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages, when you use these pages you are under their Terms of Service and Privacy Policies of the respective platforms. We do not have any control over their Terms of Service or Privacy Policies.
- Commenting or contacting us: When a visitor leaves a comment on the site, the comment is public. Please DO NOT include personal information in comments that you do not want public (eg: email address). Emails send through the website’s contact form are sent directly to me and are kept private. We collect the visitor’s IP address and browser to detect spam.
Email newsletter:
- Mailchimp is used to manage the email list so that subscribers are able to opt-in and opt-out whenever they want. Mailchimp has a strict privacy policy and does not share your contact information with 3rd parties. You can read the full (very long) privacy policy here
- Mailchimp is set up to occassionally prompt users to subscribe to the newsletter
- We do not sell or share this data with 3rd parties for their own marketing, advertising, or business purposes.
Exceptions:
As we said, we will not share/sell your name & email or other personal information when you sign up to the newsletter with any other person or company except:
Product giveaways: rarely (it has never happened before) a giveaway sponsor might need to email you directly if you are the “winner” and they need to mail or email you the “prize”
If I sell the business (very unlikely): I will email you that I am selling my business to give you the option to opt-out of the mailing list.
The unexpected: if this ever changes, I will email you. I will not just change the privacy policy and post it to the website.
Legal reasons:
Your Data and Data Rights:
- If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can contact us here to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. For example, we need to keep sales records for tax and tax auditing reasons.
Again, if you have any questions about this privacy policy or anything else, feel free to contact me here. All emails come directly to me :)
